OpenAI forms independent mathematics advisory panel

OpenAI announced an independent panel of mathematicians to advise on how the company and other technology firms interact with mathematical research. The nine-member group is hosted by the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, and includes researchers from institutions such as Stanford, Harvard, Oxford, and Cambridge.

The group, called the Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, will advise on the review and communication of emerging results and the standards of mathematical research. Members will not be paid by OpenAI and the group will operate independently with the freedom to make its advice public.
