BMW deploys humanoid robots for SUV production

BMW used the Figure 02 humanoid robot to assist in producing over 30,000 units of the X3 SUV model. The robot worked in the body shop placing sheet metal parts for welding.

Other manufacturers are also adopting robotics in their plants. Ford utilizes a Boston Dynamics Spot robot at its Halewood factory, while Hyundai acquired Boston Dynamics and plans to deploy the Atlas robot at its U.S. metaplant by the year 2028.
